2010 SME/PCMIA Annual
Joint Meeting It is that time of year again.
Please join us at the 2010 SME/PCMIA Annual Joint Meeting. This
year it is being held October 28-29 at the Hilton Garden Inn-Southpointe,
Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. During this two-day event, the
featured technical sessions include:
- Mine Emergency
Operations,
- Communications and
Tracking,
- Respirable Dust, and
- International Coal
Mining.
Thursday’s Keynote speakers
include the Honorable Tim Murphy, Congressman, 18th District of
Pennsylvania and Young Leaders Ryan T. Desko, Richard C. Kim,
Ryan M. Murray, and Heather Trexler. Dr. Nikhil C. Trivedi, SME
President and Senior Partner with IDEKIN International, will be
the Friday Keynote.
There will also be unique
vendor and parking lot displays including methane buster
ventilation pump units, fire suppression demo trailers,
tow-behind water pumps, and numerous mine rescue command center
vehicles (Alpha NR, SMRT, and MSHA).
On Thursday afternoon, October
28, there will be a student tour of the MSHA Approval and
Certification Center in Triadelphia, West Virginia following the
student luncheon. Fifty university students will have the
opportunity to tour MSHA’s Electrical Explosion Test Gallery,
the Intrinsic Safety Test Lab, and the Diesel Explosion Test
Gallery.
To maintain, improve and
expand the skills and knowledge relevant to engineering,
particularly mineral/mining engineering, meeting attendees will
be awarded Professional Development Hours for their attendance
at this event. Two-day attendees will be awarded 10 PDH, and
one-day attendees will receive 5 PDH.
The fee for two-day meeting
registration is $125 and one-day registration is $70. For

social event being held on Friday evening, October 29, 2010.
SME/PCMIA will host a musical Tribute to the American Coal Miner
at the IceoPlex located in Southpointe, Canonsburg, PA. Please
